Greenmount Beach is a beautiful and family-friendly stretch of sand on the Gold Coast, Australia. It is located in the southern suburb of Cooloongatta and is known for its calm waters with plenty of areas for the family to swim safely, magic surf breaks, soft sand and stunning views of the coastline. It’s a very popular spot for hikers, joggers, surfers and sunbathing and it’s easy to see why.
The coastal headland Greenmount Point separates the western beach of Greenmount from the eastern beach of Rainbow Bay. The beach is surrounded by the lush greenery of Greenmount Headland with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, making it a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll, have a picnic or relax and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Here’s the plan. Start your day with a swim in the ocean or a walk along the beach but before this you need to get there. Most people drive, and park. 🔥Tip: There is plenty of street parking and designated car parks. During the warmer months these can fill very quickly, so the earlier you arrive the better. There is also a local bus service that will get you to Cooloongatta while also connecting with the Gold Coast Light Rail/Tram and train service from Brisbane.
- Arrive as early as you can in the morning to find a park, beat the crowds and find a good spot on the beach.
- Set up your umbrella and start to relax as you enjoy this little part of paradise. 🔥Tip: Don’t forget to Slip, Slop, Slap on the sunscreen + water & a hat.
- Time to hit the water, Greenmount Beach is a great place for building sandcastles, swimming, playing on the beach or enjoying the ocean waves.
- If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try your hand at surfing. There are a number of surf schools in the area that offer lessons for all ages and skill levels.
For lunch, ideally you could bring a picnic basket with all your favourite goodies. There are so many locations along the beachfront or scattered around Greenmount Point all of which have million-dollar views. Along Marine Parade head to one of the many cafes and restaurants all serving up all manner of takeaways and fine food. You can even grab an ice cream or a gelato. If you have time, visit the Greenmount Surf Club for a cold drink and a meal. The location of the surf Club is spectacular with a large deck overlooking the beach, which is a perfect spot to relax and watch the sunset.
After lunch take a walk along the beachfront path and enjoy stunning views of the coastline. This walk is particularly special at sunset but go anytime of the day and your guaranteed photogenic vistas. We are surrounded by parklands that include toilets, disabled toilets, BBQ’s, beach showers and undercover tables and seating with the most awe-inspiring coastal views stretching all the way to Surfers Paradise on the distant horizon. What an amazing place to have a picnic lunch or better still a BBQ dinner with a coldie after a late afternoon swim while watching a glorious sunset.
