Situated in the South Bank Cultural Precinct, GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art) has done it again, and is showcasing an exhibition of Yesteryear, Present and Futuristic motorcycles in a fully interactive and immersive display – THE MOTORCYCLE > DESIGN > ART > DESIRE. I have gone on a day trip to check it out, GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING ‼‼‼‼
Featuring over 100 bikes from the UK, Japan, France, Italy, the USA and Australia displayed in all their glory, complimented by the accompanying cinema programmes “Motorcycles on Screen” taking you on a journey looking back at the portrayal of motorbikes in many iconic movies EG: “Easy Rider,” “The Wild One.”
This is not just a look and see exhibition, thumping sound tracks from the Big Screens as you roam amongst the displays, road bikes, trail bikes, trial bikes, speed machines and record breakers all with their own story to tell. I was able to freely able to wander in and out of the stands viewing such an array of classic motor bikes, like the legendary brands Triumph, Norton, Harley – Davidson, Honda and Kawasaki are all here, past Bert Munro’s Indian Scout Special – a title holder for being the World’s Fastest and then there’s the specialist dirt bike the – Bultaco from Spain designed for specialised “Trials” events. 🔥 Use the QR scanner on your phone, 🔥 You’ll need to Scan the GOMA – QR at the front entrance before entry, and click on the QR’s that accompany the information sheet at each display to get more details on your favourite motorcycle.
Head to the interactive displays where in The Garage you can build your own motorcycle on the touch screen and then get the wind in your hair as you take a virtual seat on a Vespa, Dirt Bike, or futuristic Electric bike as you go riding through a themed landscape. Just love it and all of this in air-conditioned comfort.
If you need to grab a coffee or some snacks there are several coffee shops and cafes in the area. The Queensland Museum Café – Café Muse is located close by, good coffee and reasonably priced for the snacks that we purchased. 🧡🧡🧡

👉Drive & Park. ❗❗ There are several car parking stations but at the present time there is also a lot of construction work being carried out in this area. Road and bridge closures are in place. 👉Bus: The Cultural Centre Bus stop is at GOMA’s door 👉Train: South Brisbane Station is nearby 👉CityCat & Ferries: The South Bank Parklands is your disembarking point 👉Walk: It’s an easy walk via the Victoria Bridge from the Brisbane CBD
Take a stroll down memory lane or take a look into the future of Motorcycle Transport, there is something here for the whole family to enjoy. When your finished, the Queensland Museum is next door or head off to the South Bank Parklands where many new adventures await. If your visiting Brisbane or a Local put GOMA on your “To Do” list but remember it closes on the 26th April 2021.
ROAD TRIP'N 
I think I’d rather see that show than most conventional art shows, and I’m an artist. Those bikes are intriguing, and aesthetically superior to most art.
